Nora Schultz work is more performative but does include some element of printmaking. In her Parrot’s Mind Model Magazine-Performance, the focus of the piece is the act of printmaking in its most basic definition. Each performer is using an object as a printing plate, adding paint to it, and pressing it onto a surface to create an imprint. Her focus on the performative element of printmaking, rather than the result of process is what keeps her work from being labelled as printmaking. The prints serve as a record of the performance but the importance continues to lie on the performance. The idea of the performative component of printmaking along with the idea of placing importance on the process are ideas I took away from Schultz's work. I would not know how to approach a direct application of these ideas into my own printmaking process.
