The political themes and narrative of the story are still relevant today. The story of a young man coming to a city and his transition as an observer to a participant of city life is told through ambiguous images that do not place the viewer in a specific city. The critique of activities related to city life and industrialization are also relevant to modern day. What is most surprising about the images is the clarity of the subject and how it fits into the larger narrative. Through very limited imagery the artist was able to give the viewer enough visual information to keep the narrative moving. This form most reminded me of a storyboard in which a narrative is planned using limited images that convey enough information.
